FAQs

How often should I take my dog to the vet?

A checkup every 6-12 months is recommended, including an annual visit for vaccinations! Puppies, seniors, and dogs with health conditions may need more frequent visits.

Unfortunately, for some dogs, a trip to the vet can be a scary event. At Vet Hub, we do everything we can to ensure your pet’s visit is a pleasant one, but for some dogs, medication may be required prior to their visit to help with their anxiety. Call us to discuss options for your canine companion.

Adult dogs most commonly scoot to relieve the pressure or pain associated with their anal glands being full or inflamed. If you see your dog scooting please book an appointment for an anal gland expression. Anal glands may become infected or develop an abscess if not expressed when full. Dogs may also lick or chew on their back paws when their anal glands are feeling uncomfortable.

In young dogs, scooting may be associated with the presence of intestinal worms irritating the anus. Ensure your pup has had an intestinal worming treatment, and speak to the team about how often treatment is recommended.

Good dental health is extremely important in our pets. Just like us, dogs can accumulate food particles on their teeth, leading to plaque build-up and eventually damaging tartar or calculus, which causes gum recession and the loss of teeth.

Speak to our team about a personalised plan for your pet to help keep their teeth clean and healthy.

The best time to desex your dog can vary depending on their breed and current health. Chat to our friendly Vet Hub team during your check-up to find out what’s right for your pet!
